Julien Bergeron scores in overtime, Team Benoît wins 5-4

Julien Bergeron scored his second goal of the game in overtime, and Team Benoît secured its first win of the 2026 QMJHL Cup with a 5-4 victory over Team Gaudreau on Thursday afternoon at the Centre Gervais Auto in Shawinigan.

The red squad showed grit, as they trailed 4-3 until 4:30 remaining in the third period. That’s when Émile Guévin (one goal, one assist) of the Trois-Rivières Estacades tied the game, before Bergeron secured the win for his team.

Logan Leclair and Enzo Lévy also scored for the winners. Lévy finished the game with two points (one goal, one assist), as did Mathis Khoury, Tommy Leroux, and Mason Stonacek (two assists).

For Team Benoît, Aslan Tremblay, Pierre-Antoine Chartrand-Bongo and Éliot Faucher all performed well with a goal and an assist each. Samuel Nowlan was the other goal scorer.

Goaltender Zackary Renaud earned the win by stopping 25 of the 30 shots he faced, while Nathan Boulanger made 16 saves.

Team Gaudreau will look to secure its first win of the tournament on Friday at 9 a.m. when it faces off against Team Beauvillier. Meanwhile, Team Benoît will take on Team Girard at 11:30 a.m.
